Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky
Like a patient etherized upon a table;
Let us go, through certain half-deserted streets,
The muttering retreats
Of restless nights in one-night cheap hotels
And sawdust restaurants with oyster-shells:
Streets that follow like a tedious argument
Of insidious intent
To lead you to an overwhelming question ...

What the hell am I reading?

It's the first stanza of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, my favorite poem. Don't worry, folks, that's as pretentious as it will get here.

What does it mean? It means we're at the beginning of a new journey. This site, this store, this community, all new. I've dabbled with the idea of a side business for years. Who hasn't? But this is the first time in a long time I've had some manner of capacity to ty this. And in an internet, AI age, the time should be right. But not to inundate with BS, falsities and deception. But with connections, plain and simple.
The connection of hands; everything we sell here will either be made by me, other creators, or sourced by me. No drop shipping or fake ai generated junk. Connections by minds; you are here now because you know me. Or you know someone who knows me. Or you heard about this from someone. I thank you for that, and welcome to the Emporium. Because you were so gracious to be in this space, know that you have space and a voice. You can be seen and heard here. And there will be connection of hearts; What do I want for this site, this new community, this new space? To gain what has been lost in the last few years. People interacting with people as the humans we are. We're all just brains in meat mech suits. One we realize we are all the same and all equally fragile in this world that should by all right end our squishy lives, we can be on our way to healing lives.

That's it. That's the intro. I've rambled on a bit more than I would have liked. I'll dial that back. Because the purpose of the blog going forward will be to keep the community posted on happening in the Emporium, progress of various projects, and just a place to share a peek behind the curtain. What other online store will do that for ya? Don't answer that, I don't want to know the competition. But yeah, that's the post. Have a great day. Obligatory pet pic. Just to show we are real life people. With pets.

New things are coming. With the onset of fall, cozy season has arrived, which means a lot more inside activities. The collective will be starting our soap and fragrance oil production. Additionally, look forward to embroidered products, crochet, and other crafties soon. We may even open up custom items, but just so you know, it won't be a lot of custom or commissioned work. We still have day jobs around here. Socials are also on the horizon, so if that's your thing and you're so inclined, give us a follow! Autumn is the beginning of the rest period for the year, but we at the Emporium plan to stay very busy. We'd love to have you along for the journey!

Practiced a different pattern method last night. Not perfect, but not bad!

Join us on the journey of creation and discovery. The Empress welcomes you into her Emporium.

emporium (plural emporiums or emporia)
A shop that offers a wide variety of goods for sale

It's an old word, with an old world connotation, with a feeling of antiquity. I have a fondness for old stuff. My desk that I'm sitting at now is a refurbished antique. I hand embroider. I make soap by hand. I mix our fragrances one drop at a time. I hand pick all of our resale items because I think they are cool or interesting. I like the personal touch that comes with the labor of my hands and mind. It puts a little piece of me in everything I do. It makes us connected, from my hand to yours.

The selections are as random and a bit chaotic as life itself. Much like the many emporiums of old. But not over dusty counters of dark parlors off the alleyways of old. But it this modern virtual space. We want the feel of old in this modern era. So we sell all the bits and bobs, curious and necessities we can procure. We hold them in our hands, look them over, shake them if need be, before we send them to you. It is our little pocket of reality in a world that is rapidly becoming artificial.

We hope you'll appreciate the personal touches and small connections. Pictured below, thank you cards sent with each purchase. Hand written, wax sealed. Like letters between friends of old.
